Gita III on Purity of consciousness

Purity of consciousness means being centered in the transcendent state of consciousness, devoid of the influence of the gunas.

When being in this state we have no desire, no concern about our physical existence. Even the obsession of being one with God can be a hindrance. Being desire less is being free of our elusive nature.

A devotee of God should be able to discriminate between the influences of the mind and that of the soul. He should also know what influence the gunas have on mind and body.

Until we are completely free, we are influenced by nature. It is here where we have to co-operate with the evolutionary aspect of nature.

To become free of tamas, we need to have purpose;
To become free of rajas, we need to calm the mind,
To be free of sattva, we ought to be established in the Self. Be fully Self Realized.

How should we go through life?

We do what needs to be done, consciously, with right intention and without any anxiety for results of our action.
To be established in Yoga, the samadhi of Self knowledge, enlightenment.

What is permanent samadhi?

How does an enlightened, Self realized person think, speak, act and relate to others?
He/she has put away the desires of the mind and is content in Self knowledge.

He/she has attained to soul contentment. Soul contentment is being calm under all circumstances, without desire, fear, or anger.
