What is love?

The Greek language distinguishes at least four different ways as to how the word love is used. Ancient Greek has four distinct words for love: agape, Eros, philía, and storgē. However, as with other languages, it has been historically difficult to separate the meanings of these words when used outside of their respective contexts.

Western concept is explained as:

Sex or libido

Eros - the drive of love to procreate

Philia – friendship or brotherly love

Storge - love, affection" and "especially of parents and children it’s the common or natural empathy, like that felt by parents for offspring

Agape – the love that is devoted to the welfare of others, the prototype which is the love of God for man.

But what is love?

In Yoga – Sat, Chit, Ananda. ever existing, ever conscious bliss. (joy, love) as in Spirit or God.

Man as an aspect of God is joy, is love in his innermost being.
When we are soul conscious, we experience this inner joy, inner love.

Bhakti Yoga is worship of God through devotion. The true bhakta sees good in everything and in everyone.

The direct experience of spirit is the only lasting foundation for love.

When we feel our self as spirit, we will not simply feel love, we will be love.

Man and woman can reflect divine love in their love for each other.

Love God with all they heart as in Bhakti yoga, union through unconditional love and devotion.

Love God with mind is with focused concentration.

Love God with all thy soul is direct perception of the soul and its oneness with God, free of any thoughts, total stillness of body and mind, yet in a state of complete knowingness.

Love with all thy strength, we interiorized our life force as in Raja Yoga. We commence with Asana, Pranayama, and Pratyahara; in our interior plane, we can have contact of love in God.
