We may discuss God as Cosmic Spirit, but we must realize God as our true Self.

To know God as spirit which is the origin and end of all beings is the ultimate knowledge.
But knowledge of God as the All in All is possible only, when we realizes first, our true nature, the spirit present within ourselves, as well as omnipresent in the universe.

Ordinarily when we speak of ourselves, we have in mind the ego, but when by contemplation and meditation we succeed in uniting the ego consciousness with the intuitive consciousness of the soul, we know what our true Self is. This is what the mystics tell us and what we all of us, at least need to ponder, and gradually realize.

This is why we are urged to lift the mind from the plane of the senses and be absorbed in our inner nature or the God immanent.

When we are able to gaze at the tranquil soul, undisturbed by outer influences, we become to understand that the soul is nothing other than the true reflection of Spirit, our true Self.

This same truth was voiced by Jesus, John 14:6, 11.
‘No man cometh unto the father, but by me … Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me’.

He is referring to the immanence of God, to his oneness with the Infinite, the Divine presence within him, as the fully awakened soul, and with the omnipresent Christ Consciousness, the soul of the universe.

For anyone who anthropomorphizes God, this may present a confusing statement; it may shed light on the matter when we recall:
John 4:24 (KJV)

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth”.

To attain the Absolute, it helps to realize, that we are spiritual beings temporarily attached to our body and then ponder our true nature as the immortal Self or (soul) and its oneness with God.

The scriptures tell us that we are made in the image of God.
Genesis 1:27 (KJV) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Yet what we need to remember is that it is not the body that is made in His image, for we know the anything that is created or made will at some point perish. It is the soul, being part of Spirit that is made in His image.

Reflecting on the Parable of to Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), we discover that everyone of us has, at some point, lost his/her way and will not be free until we have found our way back to the source from hence we came.

Worshipping God:
Worshiping God and bowing down to Him, does not imply that God needs our praise since God is and has everything, but praising God creates in us positive spiritual vibrations, which manifest from love and devotion.

Listen to My supreme word, the most secret of all. Because thou art dearly loved by Me, I will relate what is beneficial to thee. Absorb thy mind in Me; become My devotee; resign all things to Me; bow down to Me. Thou art dear to Me, so in truth do I promise thee.

Bow down to Me has a very deep meaning. It consists in placing the hands, palms pressed together, over the heart, then touching the fingertips to the forehead to express devotion. Hands symbolize activity, the heart love, touching the head wisdom. ‘My activity, my love, and my mind are at Your service’.

Let us remember, that in the initial state spiritual practice our ego is very prominent. It wants to maintain its separation (I know better), but when by the practice we becomes advanced enough to perceive in ecstasy the little me in us for what it is and that it really has no independent power of its own, we can come out and say, ‘So Hum’. He I am, I and the Father are one. For this statement they crucified Jesus, yet he told the truth.

Rejoice when you can proclaim “I have found the Cosmic Spirit within me as my soul”. I am at Peace.
